Claudia Grau Brings Green Design “Slow Fashion” In Hollywood

Claudia Grau, one of the Melrose Avenue original design-stores in 1980 and perhaps the first modern ecological design, is opening a new store at the intersection of shopping in the world focused on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Called by the designer Randolph Duke as one of the “woman of personal style” in 2006, Grau was designed for private clients in the famous Melrose store closed in 1994, the birth of her second child.

At 21, Claudia Grau has opened its first store, Grau, on Melrose Avenue in 1980 and is credited as one of the few pioneers of fashion designers that create the famous Melrose Avenue in the early 1980s. Celebrities such as Cher, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton are regulars at his shop.

Grau clothes are often seen on television (The Cosby Show, the black and Dharma & Greg) and film (the cult classic Heathers.) In 1994, Grau Melrose closed the store to concentrate on raising her three children, when designing for individuals.

Grau Style

Grau, a bold, eclectic style has evolved over the past decades, always with the slogan “Fashion for women Fearless”. His first commercial success in 1980 was “depressive position”, described in the LA Weekly as “Mad Max meets the Stone Age.” Grau anticipated what became the signature collection process tailored jacket with vintage Japanese kimono fabric is built on a patchwork quilt for sale in many shops.

Grau, found what he calls the “clothes collages” (a combination of pieces of old clothing to create a new piece), a pioneer in the latest fashion trends and upcycled recycled. Grau has focused on clothing and textiles back to throughout his career. As part of the “Slow Mode”, to produce a one-of-a-kind, no cut-off of clothing (most of them without a reason) are hand-painted, hand sewn and hand-cut, all designed and offline stores.
